Women are like lionesses at the gate of the home. . . . She guards that gate, and things matter to that family if they matter to her. . . . Sisters, you are each like the lioness at the gate. This means that there has to be some prioritizing. I was taught years ago that when our priorities are out of order, we lose power. If we need power and influence to carry out our mission, then our priorities have to be straight.

Play Time

We love having a 4 month old baby. She has a little personality and is figuring out the world around her. It is so much fun to watch her figure things out - the fact that she has toes, what her hands can do, what things taste like when she puts them in her mouth, what sounds things will make... I can actually see her brain thinking sometimes as she works something out in her head. Her gross motor skills are becoming a little more fine-tuned now, so for the first time, she can actually play with things and manipulate them herself, rather than me showing her how to play. This has made my days a lot more fun and eventful. I decided to put two new videos on the blog showing Shaelyn playing. Sorry for all the baby videos, folks. This is mainly for the grandparents who never get to see their little grandbaby!

This first video is not very "action packed", but it shows Shaelyn sitting up with the assistance of my Boppy pillow. She is getting so strong and loves to sit up because it means she can play with her toys all by herself. In this video, she is playing with Freddie the Firefly. She can grab him with both hands, put him in her mouth, and crinkle him to hear that great sound babies love so much. I thought she was so cute playing with her toy all by herself - a first!

This second video has a lot more action. Michael's sister, April, just had a little girl (Autumn) a year earlier than Shaelyn, so Shaelyn gets a lot of hand-me-downs from her. In fact, both outfits Shaelyn is wearing in these videos came from Autumn. Anyway, Shaelyn also received a Jumperoo from Autumn as well. Since Shaelyn is only 4 months old, we figured we wait a little longer before putting the Jumperoo together, but since one of Shaelyn's favorite things to do is to stand, we thought we'd see how she did in it now. I'm so glad we did! She LOVES the Jumperoo! She's still a little short for it, but she doesn't seem to mind. I'm so glad I had the camera handy when I put her in it for the first time, because the look on her face as she's figuring it all out is adorable! Shaelyn says "thank you" to her cousin Autumn for sending her her new favorite toy!
