Women are like lionesses at the gate of the home. . . . She guards that gate, and things matter to that family if they matter to her. . . . Sisters, you are each like the lioness at the gate. This means that there has to be some prioritizing. I was taught years ago that when our priorities are out of order, we lose power. If we need power and influence to carry out our mission, then our priorities have to be straight.

Sproutin' Teeth

Wednesday was a hard day for Shaelyn. She woke up from her afternoon nap very cranky -- I assumed it was from teething pain, but you never really know with babies. Anyway, she was not happy and refused to eat her dinner, finally working up into such hysterics that she was tearful and snotty. Poor girl. After shoving her fist in her mouth, I decided the girl needed some Tylenol. After that took effect, she was doing much better and played until bedtime. Right before she went to bed, she bashed her head into the leg of one of our dining room chairs -- right on the corner of the leg! She bruised immediately and started to swell. As it was her first real injury, we were of course freaked out. She screamed for a good while and we decided the injury needed some ice. She was NOT having it. As we had already filled our Tylenol quota, we had to wait for the Motrin window.

With the flash, it's a little hard to see, but there's her first injury on her forehead.

She finally calmed down enough for us to attempt to put her to sleep. We knew that because of the injury, bedtime would be difficult, but BOY! It was the hardest night we've had since she was starving the first night she was born in the hospital. She woke up multiple times throughout the night screaming and was very hard to console. We used up all our Tylenol and Motrin quotas that night. We thought that it was a result of the knot on her head. Low and behold, she woke up the next morning with 2 new teeth! She now has 4 teeth - 2 tops and 2 bottoms. No wonder the poor girl was in so much pain. Those teeth literally sprouted overnight!
