Women are like lionesses at the gate of the home. . . . She guards that gate, and things matter to that family if they matter to her. . . . Sisters, you are each like the lioness at the gate. This means that there has to be some prioritizing. I was taught years ago that when our priorities are out of order, we lose power. If we need power and influence to carry out our mission, then our priorities have to be straight.

Shelley
** Officially in EARLY LABOR – so breathing through contractions throughout the day while trying to keep up with Shaelyn ** Wearing the same clothes every day since I’m at that point in my pregnancy where nothing fits and you just don’t care anymore ** Winding down after a busy holiday season and enjoying the slow pace of things ** Excited to teach next year’s Sunday School curriculum – Doctrine and Covenants and Church History! ** Getting as much sleep as possible to be rested for life with a newborn again (and Michael has been a BIG help with this) ** Sad to see all the Christmas decorations packed away ** Setting some new goals for 2009 and looking forward to another great year!

Shaelyn

Where’s snowman?) ** Talking like CRAZY and can tell full on stories with details about things that have happened during her day ** Learning how to play pretend – her favorite right now is having tea parties and inviting all her stuffed animals ** Loving all her new birthday and Christmas presents – I can’t remember the last time we had the t.v. on to entertain her! ** Telling us all the things she loves – “wuf tea set”, “wuf George”, “wuf pway gwound” ** Started calling Rachelle “my-shell” and talks about her every day

(And yes, she has started calling me MOM, not Mommy, on a regular basis!) ** Loves her weekly trips to the LIBRARY and picks out lots of new books each time ** Loved going to watch our local BASEBALL team (she loved the JUMPING CASTLES more than the actual game) and can't wait to go again

Rachelle
** 9 MONTHS OLD ** Has taken her FIRST STEPS - can you BELIEVE IT?!? ** Has found a new mode of operation - SCREAMING all day long ** Not crying, SCREAMING! - over having Shaelyn take toys from her, me taking carpet fibers, paper, and other non-baby items from her, not being held, being held too much, wanting to nurse, not wanting to nurse and me almost forcing her... you name it. Where did my sweet, happy, CONTENT baby go? ** TALKING up a storm - and singing too! Has become a MASTER of CONSONANT SOUNDS! ** EATS like a PIG (almost literally with a slop bucket...) and will eat just about anything I put in front of her. But I don't think she's a big fan of BANANAS ** Favorite times of the day: right when she first WAKES UP and BATH TIME ** Has started going to BABY STORYTIME at the library with me while Shaelyn plays at a friend's house - it is the only time I can count on her NOT SCREAMING as she's not being picked on and all the attention is on her! ** Loves LITTLE BABIES and wants to look at them and touch their faces - like a toddler does. Doesn't she know she's a baby, too?!

Rachelle
** Turned 10 MONTHS OLD this month ** MOVED OUT of mine and Michael's room and now SHARES A ROOM with her sister (and I miss her at night!) ** Still only has 2 TEETH - I've been thinking those top ones would be coming in any day now ** SO HAPPY now that she's WALKING everywhere - and doesn't crawl anymore ** Has "HOBO HANDS" as she usually has a random collection of things in both hands as she walks around to gather them ** Loves carrying around Shaelyn's CABBAGE PATCH DOLL and her MY LITTLE PONIES (so she's getting her own Cabbage Patch doll for her birthday) ** Actually called me "MOMMY" instead of "MAMA" this week ** Loves looking at the TWINKLING LIGHTS of the Christmas tree ** Starting to go down LITTLE SLIDES all by HERSELF!!
