Women are like lionesses at the gate of the home. . . . She guards that gate, and things matter to that family if they matter to her. . . . Sisters, you are each like the lioness at the gate. This means that there has to be some prioritizing. I was taught years ago that when our priorities are out of order, we lose power. If we need power and influence to carry out our mission, then our priorities have to be straight.

How Does He Know?

My friend recently turned me on to Pandora. I had been telling her about my husband had bought me a CD of on of my favorite artists (oh, Harry!) but that I was thinking of taking it back.

"I just don't listen to 'my music' anymore. When do I ever have a chance to? I feel like this CD will just sit around un-listened to."

I mean, Disney princess music, musicals, any song from the Children's Songbook, and the Nutcracker music fill up my life already. Where is there any room for Harry?

And then she told me about Pandora. And how she listens to it when she's doing the dishes or cooking dinner or sweeping or whatever. And I thought, "Maybe if I listen to Pandora, I'll start doing all of those things, too!"

Just kidding! What I really thought was, "I'll never use that, but thanks for passing along the info..."

So here it is, weeks later, and I have a lovely Pandora station created just for me that plays nothing but Coldplay and Harry.

That I never listen to.

Because the "Princess Shaelyn" station is playing non-stop. It plays all Disney movie songs, plus some Sound of Music thrown in for good measure.

And it also introduced Shaelyn to music from Enchanted. Now she's as in love with "How Does She Know?" as I am.

(If you don't know what I'm talking about, please find it somewhere on iTunes or Pandora or wherever so you can have it stuck in your head for the rest of your life, too.)

In the song, Giselle mentions several ways a girl can know that her guy loves her, including dancing and holding her close, writing her love notes, and taking her on picnics. All guaranteed winners.

I would like to propose another version of that song, entitled "How Does He Know?"

Lyrics:

How does he know you love him?

How does he know he's yours?

Well do you bake a cake for him while he takes a nap?

Strawberry that he loves that you make from scra-aaa-tch!

That's how he knows...

That's how he knows he's your love!

I hope he knows.

Happy Father's Day to the man I adore.

** Normally I would never share a recipe because who would take recipe advice from me? But this one is worth sharing! Simply Delicious Strawberry Cake by Paula Deen, with this homemade white cake mix substituted for a boxed cake mix. Yes, you heard me, COMPLETELY FROM SCRATCH! Where's my medal?!

** PS - I used fresh strawberries sweetened with Splenda instead of the frozen strawberries with syrup. It turned out great!
