Women are like lionesses at the gate of the home. . . . She guards that gate, and things matter to that family if they matter to her. . . . Sisters, you are each like the lioness at the gate. This means that there has to be some prioritizing. I was taught years ago that when our priorities are out of order, we lose power. If we need power and influence to carry out our mission, then our priorities have to be straight.

Must-have baby items

My sister is pregnant and just found out she is having a boy!! For those of you who don't know, the baby's due date is the same day as Shaelyn's birthday. Cousins one year apart! I am making her a list of things that I couldn't live without once I had Shaelyn, as well as a few items I wish I wouldn't have wasted my money on. So for those of you with kids - what items were must-haves for you with your first baby? Any that turned out to be total duds? I'll pass along your wisdom and experience to one soon-to-be joining our ranks!

And because I can't go two blog posts without pictures of Shaelyn...
We went to France when I was 10 weeks pregnant, so consequently we didn't know what we were having. I wanted to buy an outfit for the baby in France, and since I didn't know if I was shopping for a boy or a girl, I had to go with something uni-sex. I just recently took a photo shoot of Shaelyn in the outfit. Michael and I agree that it does make her look a little bit like a boy, but hey, it's a French outfit, so we think it's adorable! And I checked if I could buy this brand here in the United States because I love the clothes and would like to get something more girly now. The brand only sells in boutiques in places like NYC and San Fran - a quick look online showed nothing at these boutiques for less than $65!!! And that was for a shirt like this one!! I can assure you we did not pay that in France. Well, I guess another trip is needed to purchase cute French fashions and beignets for Carrie.
