Women are like lionesses at the gate of the home. . . . She guards that gate, and things matter to that family if they matter to her. . . . Sisters, you are each like the lioness at the gate. This means that there has to be some prioritizing. I was taught years ago that when our priorities are out of order, we lose power. If we need power and influence to carry out our mission, then our priorities have to be straight.

I love fall!

Fall is my favorite season. I love the leaves changing color, the way the air gets crisper and drier, the drop in temperature, and the smell in the air. I love college football, hot chocolate, sweatshirts, and anything pumpkin! Nicolle makes awesome pumpkin cookies, which are quickly becoming a favorite of mine, as well as my pumpkin rolls and pumpkin spice donuts from Krispy Kreme! So of course I wanted to get out and enjoy the beautiful fall NC has to offer.

Michael took the day off last Friday, and we went for a walk with Shaelyn down to the lake in our neighborhood to feed the ducks and geese.
Shaelyn loves walks, and was happy to be out in the cool weather. We made our way down to the lake, but realized that most of the ducks were gone - I guess they've flown south for the winter already. There were a few geese still around, but since it was a really windy day, they weren't too interested in making the effort to come over and get feed. That was a first for us. Usually we are swarmed by ducks and geese, even if you don't have any food. We threw our bread in the water anyway, hoping they would find the soggy treat later.

It was so windy, I thought Shaelyn would be too cold or start crying, but she LOVED it. It whipped through her hair and made her laugh. Of course I had to take a video - hilarious! (Oh, and I dedicate this video to you, Bex. Show it to your kids so they can see what a tree looks like.)

My parents live in AZ and my dad loves it there (I think my mom has grown tolerant of it). The whole time I lived there, I missed this - the trees, the cool breeze, the grass, the GREEN. I'm so glad Michael and I ended up back here on the east coast. And I love our neighborhood. Who wouldn't want a picturesque lake they could walk to?
