We tried a new sleeping strategy with Shaelyn last night. I have called this strategy "absolute freak-out". Let's just say that when Shaelyn didn't get what she wanted last night, she screamed for about 2 1/2 hours straight (HA to the thought that they only need 20 minutes!) and bashed her head into my mouth. She didn't hurt herself (thank goodness) but did a number on my lip:

Why do I look like an alien in this picture?
Toddlerhood has not been easy on Shaelyn's little legs. As she climbs on (and falls off) of everything, she gets all kinds of little bruises all over her legs. It's awful to look at. But they don't seem to bother her.
However, after an awful night last night, Shaelyn had an even worse morning:

I have wondered when Maggie's patience was going to give out and she would finally go after Shaelyn. Evidently, that moment has arrived. I think Shaelyn actually stepped on Maggie, (unfortunately I didn't see it), because I heard an awful pain-filled noise coming from Maggie, and then screaming from Shaelyn. I ran into the room to find Maggie crouched and hissing at Shaelyn, and Shaelyn screaming and kicking her leg at Maggie. Luckily Shaelyn had on long pants and socks, or the attack could have been worse. Poor girl! Now her legs look even worse than they did with just the bruises:

Look at those chubby legs! I love 'em! But I hate that they are so mangled right now. She was very good and calmed down from the attack immediately and let me clean off her legs without a fuss. Poor Maggie hid under the bed for the rest of the morning. When she finally emerged, Shaelyn cried. I hope their cute little relationship won't be tarnished because of this incident.

But can you blame the girl if it does?
