Women are like lionesses at the gate of the home. . . . She guards that gate, and things matter to that family if they matter to her. . . . Sisters, you are each like the lioness at the gate. This means that there has to be some prioritizing. I was taught years ago that when our priorities are out of order, we lose power. If we need power and influence to carry out our mission, then our priorities have to be straight.

Overheard

The other day I was busy. Totally slammed. Doing 4 loads of laundry. (Amazing how it multiplies, isn't it?!!) Cleaning the kitchen. Vacuuming. I don't know what got into me. I never do those things!

But Shaelyn took the hint that Mommy was busy and went and played in the blue room for an hour and a half all by herself while Rachelle napped. And as I sorted, piled, folded, and otherwise organized all our clothing, this is what I overheard:

"Time for school. Everybody on the bus. We go to school together!"

"Wait! Wait for me! There's cars!"

"Pay attention! We at school. Pay attention!"

"Time to clean up. Clean up! Clean up!"

"Are you hungry? I hungry. Get in your chair. You have to eat at the table!"

"5 minutes. Go down slide one more time."

"2 minutes to go home!"

"Ok, time to go home. Ok. Hold my hand."

"I love you. I love you so much! I so proud of you. You a big girl. I love you so much!"

I guess I'm getting through, wouldn't you say?
