Women are like lionesses at the gate of the home. . . . She guards that gate, and things matter to that family if they matter to her. . . . Sisters, you are each like the lioness at the gate. This means that there has to be some prioritizing. I was taught years ago that when our priorities are out of order, we lose power. If we need power and influence to carry out our mission, then our priorities have to be straight.

Sick Again

The girls and I were sick right before our big trek West. The girls got over it in a few days. I remained congested, sniffly, coughing, and miserable for a week and a half.

I always bring Clorox wipes with me on planes and wipe down EVERY surface you can possibly think of. So I still did this, even as I put my brand new box of tissues in the seat pouch in front of me and my very own garbage bag hanging from the corner for all the snotty tissues soon to come. I don't want YOUR germs, general public, but I'm happy to share mine with you!

I went through the whole box of tissues in the 7 1/2 hours we were traveling.

I slept on my parents' recliner instead of in bed so I could breath better and didn't wake up coughing.

I went three days on 5 hours of sleep total because Sudafed kept me awake like a drugged-up, crazy person. Now I know why that stuff is used in meth. (And now my blog's being read by at least a dozen federal agents...)

I finally got well 2/3 into the trip. So I was able breath and sleep and fly home without my head exploding.

We've been home for 1 week. Michael got sick 3 days ago. Last night, I found myself sleeping on 15 pillows with a box of tissues in my hand a pile of wadded-up ones by the bed. This morning yielded a fever as well. With aches and pains. Shaelyn had succumbed as well. We spent the day laying on the couch, cuddled up together snorting and coughing and watching PBS for about 10 hours. Rachelle had full run of the house and couldn't have been happier about it.

Preschool countdown: 13 days left. Please sickness, go away. I can't afford to spend one more day on the couch watching PBS. Plus, my mind might explode in the process. Although, have you seen the new Dinosaur Train "Under the Sea" episodes? Shaelyn loves them!
