Women are like lionesses at the gate of the home. . . . She guards that gate, and things matter to that family if they matter to her. . . . Sisters, you are each like the lioness at the gate. This means that there has to be some prioritizing. I was taught years ago that when our priorities are out of order, we lose power. If we need power and influence to carry out our mission, then our priorities have to be straight.

My Inner Mary Poppins

Or maybe I should say my inner Bert. You know, the chimney sweep who draws the sidewalk chalk drawings that Mary and the kids jump into. Well, start calling me Bert. Because today I showed off my talent by drawing pictures for my Disney Princess obsessed 2-year-old.

Well, maybe talent is too strong a word...

Ariel, Jasmine, and Belle

My three favorites: Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, and Cinderella

And then I got a little carried away drawing sidekicks. Dresses are one thing. Characters are quite another...

Flounder, Lumiere, and Cogsworth

Both girls thoroughly enjoyed themselves. And the chalk.

The real Bert in our family is actually Michael. When he served his mission in Southern France, one of the most effective ways to contact people was by creating sidewalk displays - sometimes big tri-fold posters, sometimes Book of Mormon towers. But Michael's most effective means of stopping traffic (foot traffic that is - Europeans walk a lot more than we do): sidewalk drawings. They drew such crowds that the local paper finally noticed and did a write up about Michael, his companion, their drawings, and ultimately, the message they were sharing.

So here is Michael, channeling his inner Bert in Southern France, all to teach people the gospel.
