My mom said when she was a little girl, everyone said "When her elbow bends, her mouth opens," because she put EVERYTHING in her mouth.
Rachelle is the same way. She was a very oral infant and hasn't seemed to grow out of that phase as fast as I thought she would.
Downside: I'm constantly swiping things out of her mouth. At least 3 times a day. Her favorite thing to put in her mouth are carpet fibers. She and the cat are like a tag-team at this. Maggie digs 'em up, Rachelle pops 'em in. But she can't swallow them, so she just ends up gagging on them until I swipe them out, or she pukes up all the contents of her stomach. The latter happens at least once a week.
Upside: She will eat ANYTHING. It's wonderful. No picky eater here! (At least not yet.) But she refuses to let me feed her with a spoon. Hey, I'm not fighting that battle, so I just put everything on her tray and let her gobble it up herself. She actually scrapes the food into her mouth using her little hands as shovels.
Here she is devouring cottage cheese and pears - 2 things Shaelyn still won't touch. And if you look closely, you can see her first 2 teeth!
